2011 Th!nk City

The little Th!nk City EV microcars were never super successful. Apparently they sold a few hundred overseas, but the only ones I ever saw here were fleet purchases. The one in the upper photo appears to be in City of Indianapolis government livery and was photographed with a Nikon D1X and 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens in July of 2015.

The one from the IU Health fleet in the photo below was snapped in June of 2014 from the driver's seat of my Z3 using a Samsung Galaxy SII and should give an idea how tall these stubby little things are when compared to the low-slung 2-seater.

They were of interest to me because they were the closest thing to a locavore EV at the time, being produced in Elkhart, Indiana.

They suffered recalls for a few minor problems and were rather spendy for a very limited-use city runabout. The company went under in early 2012, I think.

  1. I was going to comment about how shocking it was that something other than RVs came out of Elkhart, but then I noticed that "R" and "E" are keyboard neighbors.
